Friendship Dolls

Relation with Royal

In 1927, United States and Japan have presented each other “friendship dolls”. Japan presented 58 Ichimatsu Dolls to each state and all of the dolls were produced by Yoshitoku.

Beautiful story was that after 60 years through the War and long time, dolls were damaged terribly. The Dolls eventually came back to Yoshitoku home for restoration.

Now they were completely repaired and are housed in the museums in the United States. It is said 40 out of 58 still survive today.
