Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji is an ukiyo-e series of color woodblock prints by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849). This series depicts Mount Fuji from a variety of different locations, weather conditions, seasons, and time. Originally 36 were published, but due to its high popularity, added another 10. Who is Katsushika Hokusai?
Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) was an Ukiyo-e painter and printmaker in Edo Era. Hokusai is best-known as Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji Ukiyo-e series. He made this series because it was a domestic travel boom in Edo at that time and so he issued a kind of current travel picture. Eventually, he gained broad recognition by this series and left a lasting impact on the art world including the western artists.
